Description:

During two editions of Expo Katowice – in 2022 and 2024 – we had the pleasure of designing and implementing a set of interactive attractions for the FAMUR booth. The project attracted hundreds of visitors and became one of the highlights of the event.

Multimedia for trade shows with VR

The central element of the booth was a VR training mini-room based on our proprietary BellVR platform. It served as a mobile version of the SIGMA training room used by FAMUR for internal training sessions. Expo attendees could participate in demo VR trainings, performing tasks such as equipment maintenance and repair – all within a realistic 3D virtual environment.

Touchscreen product catalog application

The second pillar of the multimedia trade show booth was a refreshed catalog application displayed on a large touchscreen. It presented detailed product information in an engaging, interactive format. In addition to standard specifications and 3D models, the application featured a special section highlighting the group’s transition toward renewable energy (RES) – complete with 3D visualizations, educational videos, and supplementary content.

VR at the expo – product and maintenance scenes

The booth also featured dedicated VR stations with headsets and external screens streaming the VR view. Visitors could explore custom VR scenes showcasing FAMUR’s modern solutions, such as a containerized transformer station or wind turbine gearbox.

The biggest hit, however, were the interactive maintenance procedures in VR, which let visitors try their hand at typical technical operations – from basic service tasks to hands-on interaction with machinery in a fully virtual environment.

2024 update: new scenarios and equipment

The solutions proved so effective that they were reused during the next edition of Expo Katowice – updated with new equipment models, technical data, and an expanded library of VR scenarios. The mini training room gained additional modules, including interactive service procedures, allowing users to “learn by doing” – enhancing knowledge retention and making the learning process more engaging.

Multimedia for trade shows booth as a powerful tech showcase

Thanks to a mix of VR headsets, touch displays, interactive applications, and realistic simulations, our multimedia trade show booth not only drew the attention of visitors but also effectively showcased the advanced technologies used by FAMUR.
